McDonald's CEO dies at meeting
According to an Associated Press article in the Washington Post today, McDonald's chairman and CEO Jim Cantalupo died of a heart attack during the company's international owner and operator convention in Orlando.
In addition to being a horrible irony (Cantalupo has been working to incorporate healthier items into the chain's menu) and a great loss to his friends, family, and colleagues, his death also is a wake-up call to any and all planners who don't have a contingency plan in place for something like this--including how to handle the press.
