a big idea from a small, independent hotel: Houston???s hip Hotel Derek will debut its "traveling hotel room display" at the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International's Affordable Meetings Mid-America trade show in Chicago,
The idea is that, since not everyone can come down to Texas to check out the rooms in person, they can get a feel for it in their 10-foot by 20-foot tradeshow display.
"What these audiences care about is not only the size of the ballroom and whether or not we have high-speed Internet access, but will the guestroom work for them. Since they all can't come to Houston and experience our remarkable room first-hand, we're bringing the room to them," says Steven Andre, general manager of Hotel Derek in a press release.
