Feeling VIPerky?

This press release sounds like someone’s getting the idea of perks for planners right. Instead of offering a Palm Pilot or other personal perks, American Express, the Conference Collection consortium of upscale meeting hotels, and PlanSoft got together to offer a program for planners called VIPerks. How it works: Planners who use their Amex card to book a meeting with 50 or more guest rooms at one of the Conference Collection hotels "earns American Express Immediate VIPerks, including one complimentary suite upgrade, one complimentary room night for every 25 rooms consumed, transportation to and from the airport for a designated guest, and a special amenity for a VIP guest. Hotels may offer substitutions or enhancements to the program during the proposal and contract process."

The PlanSoft part is where you can do an online tour of each property. "Meeting professionals can quickly search all Conference Collection hotels, identify value dates, and request a proposal from multiple properties via the Internet. Each Request for Proposal (RFP) is password protected and stored online, providing easy access for future meetings and events," says the press release.

For more, contact The Conference Collection Web site. I do like that all the perks are meeting-related, taking the potential for bribery (or the appearance thereof) pretty much out of the process.
